Aerial Lift Training Program

Aerial lifting devices are typically used throughout construction, industry, and warehousing. However, the versatility and safety factors incorporated into these devices allow them to be utilized in almost any environment.

Our Aerial Lift Training Program will focus on the safe operation of self propelled elevated work platforms and self propelled boom supported elevated work platforms. Once the online course has been successfully completed, a certificate will be printed and must be signed in the space provided by a competent individual verifying that a hands-on practical evaluation has been completed within your facility.

Section 346 - Worker safety

1. An employer must ensure that a worker is not travelling in a basket, bucket, platform or other       elevated or aerial device that is moving on a road or work site if road conditions, traffic, overhead wires, cables or other obstructions create a danger to the worker.

Section 16.4 - Competency of Operators

1. A person must not operate mobile equipment unless the person, (a) has received adequate instruction in the safe use of the equipment, (b) has demonstrated to a qualified supervisor or instructor competency in
operating the equipment.

Manitoba Legislation

Workplace Health and Safety Regulation 217/2006

"self-elevating work platform" means a work platform that can be self-elevated, and includes a boom-type elevating work platform and one that rolls or is self-propelled.”

Section 28.2 - Safe Work Procedures

1. When a scaffold or an elevated work platform is required to be provided at a workplace, the employer must
(a) develop and implement safe work procedures for using the scaffold or elevated work platform provided;
(b) train workers who work on scaffolds and elevated platforms in those safe work procedures; (c) ensure that the workers comply with those safe work procedures.

Section 130

“An employer shall ensure that an elevating work platform is designed, constructed, erected, maintained, inspected, monitored and used in accordance with the following CSA standards, where applicable:
(a) CAN3-B354.1-M82, "Elevating Rolling Work Platforms"; (b) CAN3-B354.2-M82, "Self-Propelled Elevating Work Platforms for Use on Paved/Slab Surfaces"; (c) CAN3-B354.3-M82, "Self-Propelled Elevating Work Platforms for Use as 'Off- Slab' Units"; and (d) CAN3-B354.4-M82, "Boom-Type Elevating Work Platforms".”

1. A person shall not operate mobile equipment unless he or she, (a) has received adequate instruction and has demonstrated to a supervisor or instructor that he or she is a competent equipment operator.

Section 36 - Power Operated Elevating Work Platforms

1. A power operated elevating work platform shall, (e) be operated by a competent person at all times, during use.

9. An employer shall ensure that a person who operates a power operated elevating work platform has, before using it for the first time, (a) received oral or written instruction on the safe operation of the particular vehicle; or, (b) otherwise been adequately trained to operate that class of work platform.

10. The instruction and training required by subsection (9) is to be given by a competent person and must include.

Section 192 - Aerial Devices and Elevating Work Platforms

5. An employer or contractor shall ensure that: (a) a worker who operates an aerial device or elevating work platform is trained to operate the device or platform safely; and, (b) the training includes the manufacturer's instructions and recommendations, the load limitations, the proper use of all controls and any limitations on the
surfaces on which the device or platform is designed to be used.
